New multimeters and oscilloscopes set benchmark for LXI

2 May 2007 Test & Measurement

Agilent Technologies' first 1U LXI digital multimeter now enables test system integrators to use the benefits that come from the next-generation LAN-based modular architecture standard.

The Agilent L4411A 6½ digit high-performance DMM provides measurement speed and throughput of 50 000 readings per second at 4½ digits accuracy. With its reduced 1U size, it is well-suited for space-constrained applications such as manufacturing test.

The product, available from local official Agilent distributor, Concilium Technologies, offers strong measurement performance and a choice of computer interfaces, including LXI, providing high-performance, easy-to-use and economical I/O.

Further indicative of Agilent's LXI development strides, the company also recently introduced its first LXI class C compliant oscilloscope family. The Agilent 6000L Series digital storage oscilloscopes (DSOs) offer four channels of measurements in a compact, rack-mountable 1U-high form factor, giving engineers a space-efficient way to integrate oscilloscopes into their test systems.

"With LXI, test and measurement integrators can reap the benefits that come with the standard that includes the combined advantage of Ethernet with the simplicity of its predecessor GPIB. With the release of its LXI multimeters and oscilloscopes, Agilent provides engineers with tools to develop systems even more speedily and efficiently," says Andrew Lees of Concilium Technologies.

High-performance DMM

The L4411A features simple display, including 'latest reading' and LAN address, that allows system integrators to quickly integrate and debug the test system. It also features a compatibility mode, requiring little-to-no code change to upgrade a test system with next-generation capabilities.

Using a new A/D technology, this DMM achieves an impressive 50 000 readings a second at 4½ digits, and can stream readings to a computer at the same speed.

Furthermore, the product incorporates E1412A/34401A Emulation Mode to ensure the easiest upgrade possible, virtually eliminating costly software and documentation changes. Agilent's I/O Library Suite ships with the L4411A to help users quickly establish an error-free connection between the PC and the instrument.

DSOs

The Agilent 6000L's remote capabilities and graphical Web interface reduce setup and troubleshooting time for engineers building design-verification and functional-test systems in the aerospace/defence, automotive, communications, medical and computer industries.

These oscilloscopes offer 100 MHz, 500 MHz and 1 GHz analog bandwidth and up to 4 GSa/s sample rate. All three models come standard with 8 Mpts (multiprotocol transport services) MegaZoom III deep memory which enables engineers to capture long, non-repeating signals, and maintain high sample rates with good timing resolution.

All Agilent 6000L Series oscilloscopes come standard with LAN, GPIB and USB interfaces as well as an additional front-panel USB port that lets engineers easily store waveform data, scope setups and screen images on standard USB memory sticks.

The 6000L Series DSOs are 100% software compatible with Agilent 6000A Series portable oscilloscopes, which offer displays and front-panel control knobs and buttons.
