Altera has introduced the Arria GX range of FPGAs, its fourth generation of programmable logic devices with on-chip, high-speed serial transceivers, optimised for PCI Express (PCIe), Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) and Serial RapidIO (SRIO).
Arria GX devices are designed around the technology used in the award winning Stratix II GX FPGAs, and are built on TSMC's 90 nm process. By optimising Arria GX devices for the three most popular serial interconnect protocols, and targeting data rates up to 2,5 Gbps, Altera provides high-speed interconnect capabilities at a lower cost than ever before. These devices are suitable for various design goals, such as bridging between PCIe, GbE, SRIO and lower speed (often parallel) interface protocols, as well as implementing co-processors for high-end DSP and embedded processors.
