Connect and protect a higher powered solution

27 June 2007 Power Electronics / Power Management Information Security

The DF11 and DF12 power entry modules with circuit breaker from Schurter are ideal for the protection of high transient loads where fuse-links cannot be used in power entry modules due to higher power dissipation.

The DF11 consists of an IEC60320 inlet C14 and a TA45 circuit breaker for equipment. The DF12 additionally contains a line-filter for rated currents of 1, 2, 4, 6 and 10 A with a standard or medical version. The surrounding filter case improves its shielding characteristics.

Many different TA45 circuit breaker configurations are possible to meet individual design needs. Under-voltage protection or alternatively, a remote trip release can be incorporated, and illuminated switch versions support optimised status indication. The design enables the mounting in mobile as well as stationary applications where an on/off switch as well as an over-current protection is required. The recessed rocker switch prevents unintended actuation, and the surrounding flange provides mechanical stability.

Schurter's power entry modules save assembly time and costs by being pre-wired, so that only three spade terminals are required for connection. Screw-in and snap-in versions for panel thickness of 1-8 mm are available.

The DF11 and DF12 modules are ideal for high-quality power supplies, and the 2-pole circuit version is especially suited to telecom base station modules, high-end computers or high capacity medical applications. The DF11 and DF12 are approved to 10 A, 125/250 V a.c., 50/60 Hz according to ENEC, UL and CSA. They are suitable for use in equipment according to IEC/EN 60950.
