Connector series now available colour coded

8 August 2007 Interconnection

Tyco Electronics has added coloured plugs, caps and headers to its existing Universal MATE-N-LOK connector family.

A total of nine different colour options are now available, enabling colour coding and different colour schemes in harness and wiring systems. Improving visibility and aesthetics, these connectors meet system colour coding protocols and avoid losing any position, as no additional keying component is required.

Designed for a wide range of general purpose industrial and commercial electronics applications including household appliances, industrial machinery, instrumentation, commercial and building equipment, these connectors all benefit from UL recognition, CSA certification and VDE approvals, as well as being fully RoHS compliant.

Universal MATE-N-LOK connectors are based on 6,35 mm centre-lines and are available in wire-to-wire, wire-to-board, single-row and double-row configurations. Designers can select from either right-angle or vertical headers for the wire-to-board versions. Contacts are crimped to wire and accept wire ranges from 12-10 AWG up to 30-26 AWG.

The pin and socket contacts are brass or phosphor bronze with tin or gold plating. Housings and headers are available in UL 94V-2 and UL 94V-0 nylon.
