Providing design engineers with a broad range of switch designs featuring extended actuation force and mechanical life, BI Technologies has expanded its tactile switch product offering to include a new series of devices with a square stem, designated the SWT8 Series; and added three additional styles to the sealed product offering designated the SWTW Series.
Design and ergonomics play a major role in today's public transportation world, being possibly as important decision making criteria as technical functionality. The public transport switch (PTS) from Schurter is designed as a door pushbutton switch for use in public transportation applications such as trains, buses, trams and undergrounds.
Due to the user-friendly design the PTS switches can be easily operated by elderly and handicapped people. The switching status is visually indicated through an illumination ring. The illumination ring is lit by LEDs according to the customer's request. A typical switch option is equipped with eight green LEDs and four red LEDs, the red LEDs giving the passenger a feedback signal that the switch was pressed. An additional option provides illumination with eight yellow LEDs.
The PTS switches can be fixed with three screws. These screws are located behind the front bezel and therefore they are not visible to the passengers. The standard front bezel comes with the RAL code 1023, in a yellow colour, and can also be lettered with Braille codes and legends. A unique feature of the PTS series is the outstanding tactile feedback with a lifetime of 2 million cycles. A further advantage is that the illumination provides a viewing angle of 180°, which gives a wide-range identification of the switching status.
These switches are available as standard versions with 24 V and 110 V supply voltage ratings and angled cables.
