Fluke has introduced the Fluke 1520 MegOhmMeter, a rugged and convenient tool that combines insulation resistance testing, AC/DC voltage measurement and Lo-Ohms function.
The 1520 MegOhmMeter tests insulation in power system wiring and motor windings and it offers a Lo-Ohms function for continuity and ground connection testing. With a simple interface, the 1520 provides insulation resistance testing up to 4000 MW, with three output voltages: 250, 500 and 1000 V. The Fluke 1520 switches automatically to voltage sensing when connected to a live circuit with voltage over 30 V and provides AC/DC voltage measurement up to 600 V.
The 1520 MegOhmMeter was designed for the most demanding testing jobs. It has a large backlit LCD with analog bar graph and digital display as well as a last-reading memory display for insulation resistance and Lo-Ohms. The fast-responding analog/digital display shows measurement changes graphically. It also provides an 'auto discharge' safety function that protects the user from getting shocked by residual voltage left on tested circuits.
"Technicians can complete a number of tests quickly," says Kevin Preston, Distributor Manager at Spescom. "And the 1520 does it all - no more running back to the truck for a voltmeter. The 1520 provides all of the functions required for professional insulation testing and ground connection testing under EN 61557-2, 1997."
The 1520 uses four C-cell batteries that provide enough energy for at least 5000 tests, and also contains a battery-life indicator, battery-check function and auto shut-off. It is fully tested to comply with IEC 1010-1, CAT III 600 V overvoltage category.
