New test solution for copper cables and networks

The new NETmapper from Barlow Communications is said to be a fast, easy to use, lightweight handheld copper-link verifier which supports functions required to provide comprehensive testing and verification procedures for both new and existing copper networks.

It incorporates both an online active network tester and an offline cable checker, and can also check for polarity and voltage of telephone lines. The NETmapper also has an analog tone generator and Portfinder function for network cable and port identification.

The online test function displays the Ethernet port status and can be used to ping the default router, the DNS server or a user defined device. The Wiremap offline test displays open, shorted, reversed, crossed, split pairs and miswired cables, as well as shield continuity.
