PFC evaluation board is highly efficient

Providing power supply engineers with a means to test their circuit designs, BI Technologies offers a PFC (power factor correction) evaluation board. The ready-to-run evaluation board contains all of the necessary control and power circuitry, along with the required inductor assembled onto a compact board, to test power factor correction modules.
The evaluation board features correction to near unity power factor and better than 95% efficiency, allowing it to accurately evaluate a variety of applications, including switching power supplies from 500 W to 3000 W, motor drives, servo amplifiers, solenoid drivers, solid-state relays and three-phase rectifier bridges. It accepts 85 to 265 Vrms input voltage at 50 to 60 Hz, and is capable of handling up to 3 kW of power with a cooled heatsink.
The company also offers a series of PFC modules in three standard configurations. Designated the 7720 Series, the modules suit power supplies ranging from 500 W to 3000 W, and are capable of replacing up to 10 TO220 or TO247 discrete power semiconductors required to achieve power factor correction in a conventional power supply design.
