The T-39 is the first of a new generation of RoHS compliant fibre-optic fusion splicers designed under Sumitomo's ECO-21/2 program which considers the environmental impact of Sumitomo products throughout their development, production, use and end of life.
The T-39 boasts a very fast splice cycle, assisted greatly by the introduction of a dual-oven heating system. Splice protection typically increases the splice cycle from less than 10 seconds to almost a minute; the introduction of a dual oven system virtually eliminates this bottle-neck.
Sumitomo's core aligning single fibre fusion splicers adopt the profile align system (PAS) image processing technique to precisely align the fibre cores prior to fusion. Splice loss estimation is also achieved by image processing using PAS sampling and high definition core monitoring (HDCM).
Sumitomo fusion splicers have been supplied to major telecommunication network operators all over the world, including South Africa, and also to many manufacturers of equipment and products containing optical fibre.
