Successful component placement system enhanced

Samsung Techwin has developed a new addition to its line of SMT equipment, in the form of the SM321 Advance Flexible Component Placement SMT System.

Through continued development and optimisation of Samsung's technology, the productivity of the SM321 has realised a more than 10% increase in speed over the successful SM320 model. Chips are placed at rates higher that 21 000 CPH and QFPs at 5500 CPH (IPC 9850).

Samsung has reduced the weight on the head by using a single casting so that stabilising high speed motion can be accomplished. Transfer speeds have been increased by up to 30%. With the new megapixel camera (SM321-B Type) productivity and flexibility have been improved by being able to place 0603 (0201) ~22 mm Chip, SOP, QFP, BGA and SCPs.

A new keyboard and USB ports are supported, making the machine user friendly. A placement accuracy measurement function is now an option in the machine. Various models are available, tailoring to a customer's particular needs. Support by IT (Intelligent Part Registration) system is optional.

According to local distributor PEM Technologies, three new SM3xx series machines have been installed recently, bringing to six the number of the new series machines installed in South Africa.
