Erni has introduced a new design for its female DIN connectors, offering several advantages over the previous design. These advantages include a reduction of the press-in force by approximately 25%, using the new 'Eye of the Needle' press-fit zone, which leads to less strain for the PCB. Solder-stop versions are available on request for type B and C connectors to prevent rising of solder up into the housing.
Available termination lengths are, for the Solder type: 2,5 mm; 3,7 mm; 4,0 mm; 13,0 mm; 17,0 mm, for the Press-fit type: 2,9 mm; 4,0 mm; 5,5 mm; 13,0 mm with transfer zone; 17,0 mm with transfer zone, for the Wire Wrap type: 13,0 mm; 17,0 mm.
The new design maintains unchanged dimensions of insulation bodies for backwards compatibility, and a simple coding mechanism, using coding strips is standard on all type B, C, E and CD connectors. Transfer zone contacts are selectable for all versions. The THR versions are made of a high-temperature-resistant material which makes them suitable for reflow soldering.
