Portable OTDR for fibre system testing

Barlow Communications recently launched the Radiantech Fibre Pal, a compact, cost-effective, portable OTDR (optical time-domain reflectometer).

By providing all the measurement functions and performance required for optical fibre construction and maintenance, it is designed for full-range fibre fault detection to solve FTTx and optical LAN problems. Typical applications would be splice loss detection, attenuation measurement, acceptance testing, break point locating, length measurement, on-line monitoring and fibre identification with a maximum display range of 240 km.

The Fibre Pal's sealed design is rugged and suitable for most environments. LAN and USB 1.1 interfaces come as standard on the device which is powered by rechargeable Li-Ion batteries.
