Terminal crimping tool eases effort

5 March 2008 Manufacturing / Production Technology, Hardware & Services

A prime consideration when choosing the appropriate hand tool for an application is the grade of hand tool. Tyco Electronics offers a range of hand tools categorised into three levels - Service, Commercial and Premium.

The Universal Hand Tool Kit for crimping terminals provides the versatility of general purpose service tools along with the reliability and ease of use of many premium grade tools. For versatility all die sets are interchangeable, including those for open-barrel contacts and terminals. In addition, the die sets have multiple cavities for crimping a variety of contacts or terminal sizes.

For user convenience, the tool has ratchet control that provides for complete crimp cycling and eliminates partial crimps. An emergency release allows the user to open the tool jaws at any time during the crimp cycle. To reduce handle force, the linkage has been designed to match the forces required to crimp the largest insulated terminals. The result is very low required hand force.
