Bourns has extended its CMF-SD product family of ceramic PTC thermistors to include a surface mount package that houses two resistance matched PTCs in a single ceramic housing. The product is a suitable solution for the protection of telecom line cards that require tight resistance matching of the tip and ring line.
The thermistors have been designed to match and complement the Bourns family of TISP thyristor-based overvoltage protection devices. In combination, these components can now provide equipment manufacturers with a total telecom circuit protection solution, which will enhance equipment and comply with various global telecommunication and equipment standards.
The thermistors are available in 25 Ω, 35 Ω and 50 Ω versions, with tolerances of ±10% or ±20% and resistance matching to within ±0,5 Ω. They are rated at 230 V, and can withstand maximum induction voltages of 600 V a.c. Hold current ranges from 0,09 to 0,13 A at 25°C with trip current between 0,19 and 0,26 A and time to trip below 0,3 seconds.
