National Instruments, a leader in computer-based and networked measurement and automation, recently opened a branch office in South Africa. The company says that this is to meet the needs of its growing number of international customers.
"South Africa is an emerging economy and a point-of-entry into the sub-Saharan region of Africa," said Michael Hutton, Manager of the new NI branch. "This market presents NI many opportunities to work with customers in several industries - from mining to automotive. With this local branch, NI can quickly and efficiently provide our growing number of customers with the service and technical support necessary to make them successful."
For the past 10 years, NI has sold its software and hardware solutions in South Africa through a distributor, Westplex. Westplex continues to work with NI, helping customers design, develop, and integrate measurement and automation systems using NI products, including LabVIEW software, PXI industrial computers, FieldPoint distributed I/O and other measurement devices.
Engineers and scientists worldwide use NI products in many different applications in diverse industries such as the consumer electronics, automotive and aerospace industries. NI software and hardware can provide a more efficient, affordable way for engineers and scientists to create custom measurement and automation applications, says the company.
