The CircuitMaster 4000M from ABI Electronics is designed for safe probing of closely spaced components by adding precision DC measurement, signal storage and analysis functions to a traditional oscilloscope design. The built-in 24-bit voltmeter removes the need for multiple instruments, thus making the unit a complete test and measurement station.
In Active mode, the device can inject signals into the board under test when required, allowing circuit conditions such as drive strength and source impedance to be checked. It also has a built-in 4-channel logic analyser for logic signal display along with the two analog inputs. FirmFlex and VI Curve functions provide impedance signature analysis on powered and un-powered boards.
Several other features contribute to time reduction in probing and simplification of measurements. A configurable footswitch, for instance, allows the user to store waveforms or update live comparison masks without lifting a finger. Moreover, the unit automatically ranges the voltage scale on acquisition which means that manual adjustments are not required. Graphical thresholds, adjustable and displayed in colour, make digital logic signal analysis straightforward.
