1200 W front-end power supplies support current-sharing and hot-swapping

14 March 2001 Power Electronics / Power Management

Artesyn Technologies has launched a new family of 1200 W front-end AC/DC power supplies featuring a particularly extensive set of configuration and control facilities to simplify system integration and power management. Intended primarily for data processing, datacom and telecom applications that use distributed power architectures, the AFE1200 series power supplies offer full current sharing capabilities and are specifically designed to support hot-swapping to help minimise system down-time. A range of rack-mountable power shelves is available for users wishing to configure multiple power sources for high power applications or redundant-mode operation.

AFE1200 series power supplies are available with a choice of 48 V d.c. or 24 V d.c. outputs; the 48 V model can deliver up to 25 A and the 24 V model can deliver up to 50 A. Both models also provide an auxiliary 12 V/1 A d.c. output for powering items such as external housekeeping circuitry. The auxiliary output is isolated from the main output and both outputs are fully floating, enabling users to adopt whatever rail reference configuration they require. AFE1200 series power supplies have an 85 V a.c. to 264 V a.c. universal input range and accommodate mains frequencies from 47 Hz to 63 Hz, enabling them to operate from any standard single-phase AC mains supply virtually anywhere in the world. Featuring built-in, fan-assisted cooling, AFE1200 series in a compact package, measuring just 29,2 x 17,1 x 8,5 cm, that is compatible with most standard rack-mount distributed power systems. To assist users who wish to configure multiple power supplies for higher power demand applications or for redundant-mode operation, the AFS2400 and AFS4800 power shelves accommodate two and four AFE1200 series power supplies respectively, and fit into standard 19" wide cabinets.

AFE1200 series power supplies are comprehensively protected.
