SMD 0603 resistors rated at 0,20 W

30 April 2008 Passive Components

Vishay has released a new Power Metal Strip resistor featuring a high 0,20 W power rating in the compact 0603 package size.

With double the power capacity of the standard WSL0603-type device, the WSL0603... 18 is a small, surface-mount resistor intended for high-power, current-sensing applications in DC-DC converters, power/Li-Ion battery management systems, and VRMs in computer and telecommunications systems. In automotive systems, the resistor is optimised for electronic controls, including driver information electronics and engine, chassis and climate controls.

Featuring specially selected and stabilised materials, the new resistor offers a high power-to-package-size ratio while maintaining the superior electrical characteristics of the Power Metal Strip construction.

The WSL0603... 18 series offers a low resistance range of 0,015 Ω to 0,1 Ω at standard tolerances of ±0,5% and ±1,0%. The device features the same TCR (±75 ppm/°C) and thermal EMF (less than 3 μV/°C) as the standard WSL0603 resistor, while offering an excellent frequency response to 50 MHz, and very low inductance ranging from 0,5 nH to 5 nH.

With a high-temperature capacity to +170°C, the new resistor provides resistance to extreme temperatures, as well as to thermal and mechanical shock, moisture, and vibration. Its all-welded construction features solderable terminations and a resistive element of either solid metal nickel-chrome or a manganese-copper alloy.
