Mean Well has introduced the new PB-1000 series of 1000 W intelligent AC-DC battery chargers for lead-acid batteries. Featuring user-selectable 2-stage/8-stage charging characteristics, this charger, which is controlled by a microprocessor, can quickly and efficiently recharge batteries or can use a more complete charging curve to store more energy in the battery banks. The charger is capable of charging two battery banks simultaneously; the device switches the charging current between the two battery banks automatically to ensure that both banks are fully charged, and maintain them at a suitable charge continuously.
To effectively extend the lifetime of batteries and reduce maintenance efforts, the PB-1000 also possesses a built-in temperature compensation circuit. By simply connecting the supplied NTC sensor to the body of the battery, the output voltage of the charger will be adjusted according to the temperature. Featuring a built-in active PFC function, the unit can comply with the harmonic requirements per EN61000-3-2.
Other standard features include IEC320-C14 3 pole AC inlet, power ON/OFF switch with light indicator, remote ON/OFF control, fan ON/OFF control, and reverse polarity, short circuit, over-voltage, and over-temperature protection. Suitable applications include home appliances, solar power systems, security systems, UPS systems, electric wheelchairs, leisure vehicles and vessel applications that may use lead-acid batteries as the power source or back-up system.
