New ESD protection components

28 May 2008 Circuit & System Protection

Bourns has released two new products in its ChipGuard ESD protection range. The new CG0402MLU/CG0603MLU was designed with an ultra low capacitance, and the CG0805MLA-5,5ME and CG0805MLA-18KE devices provide protection for products like computers, analog modems and PDAs.

The CG0402MLU/CG0603MLU series, providing a 3,3 to 24 V d.c. working voltage, has been designed to provide engineers with an ultra low maximum capacitance of 0,05 pF while still ensuring international ESD IEC 61000-4-2 standard capability and compliance with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC standards. High speed data and communication port protection applications include HDMI, USD 2.0 ports, IEEE 1394 ports, SCSI ports and DVI (digital video interface) ports.

The CG0805MLA-5,5ME and CG0805MLA-18KE devices provide four ESD suppressors in an 0805 chip package, which offers the designer standard capacitance values for general ESD protection applications in end products such as computers, analog modems and PDAs including IC supply lines, MOSFET gate protection and low frequency digital and control lines.

The CG1206MLC-12E devices provide four ESD suppressors in 1206 chip packages, which offer low 0,5 pF capacitance ESD protection on high speed communication USB or IEEE1394 data lines. The small chip package makes them suitable for space saving portable electronic applications such as set-top boxes, LCD TVs, cellphones, PDAs, digital cameras, MP3 players and GPS handheld systems.
