Low profile EMI filters

11 June 2008 Circuit & System Protection

Vishay has released six new four-, six-, and eight-channel EMI filters in ultra-compact LLPXX13 leadless packages.

With a low profile of 0,6 mm, the new VEMI filter series is designed to save board space and provide ESD protection in portable electronics for mobile computing, mobile communication, consumer, industrial and medical applications.

The new filters include the four-channel VEMI45AB-HNH and VEMI45AC-HNH, the six-channel VEMI65AB-HCI and VEMI65AC-HCI, and the eight-channel VEMI85AB-HGK and VEMI85AC-HGK. Delivering high-quality filtering, the new devices feature typical cut-off frequencies of 130 MHz and 240 MHz, a resistance of 100 Ω, and load capacitances of 20 pF and 40 pF. Low leakage current helps to prolong battery life.

The VEMI45AB-HNH, VEMI65AB-HCI, and VEMI85AB-HGK devices provide transient protection for data lines as per IEC 61000 4 2 (ESD) at ±25 kV and ±18 kV (air and contact discharge) and IEC 61000 4 5 (lightning) from 4 A. The VEMI45AC-HNH, VEMI65AC-HCI, and VEMI85AC-HGK devices provide transient protection for data lines as per IEC 61000 4 2 (ESD) at ±12 kV and ±10 kV (air and contact discharge) and IEC 61000 4 5 (lightning) from 2 A. All six devices are compliant with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC.
