GP Solar has released a range of flexible thin film solar panels to the market. These solar panels utilise triple-junction solar cells which have excellent high-temperature performance and low-light power outputs.
Each cell is composed of three semiconductor junctions stacked on top of each other, forming three different sub-cells. The bottom sub-cell absorbs red light, the middle cell absorbs yellow/green light and the top cell absorbs blue light.
The cells are connected together to provide a specified output voltage which can be customised according to customer requirements and are laminated in flexible weather-resistant polymers. These thin film modules can be used in the field standalone or attached to a backpack for charging cellphones, iPods, repeater stations or any other portable equipment.
A range of standard products is available, starting with a 5 W and 10 W 14 V single panel. For larger power requirements, there is a unique solar blanket which can be folded up. Here 30, 50, 60 and 120 W versions are available. A range of 3, 5, 10 and 20 A battery chargers is also available.
GP Solar is also able to customise a thin film solar panel to the customer's requirements of physical size, output power and voltage.
