The Power Combination 6 (PC 6) printed-circuit board plug connectors from Phoenix Contact have been specially developed for high-current applications. The use of high conductivity metal alloys gives the plug connector low volume resistivity and correspondingly high performance. According to the derating curve the plug connector can handle currents of 41 A per individual pin at an ambient temperature of 50°C.
A steel retaining spring on the female side provides an additional measure of contact reliability, which is particularly important if there are large fluctuations of current or temperature. Fully silver-plated metal parts ensure constant surface coating with consistent plug-in or pull-out forces.
The PCB plug connector can have from two to eight pins and will carry a rated voltage of 1000 V at 10,16 mm pitch. The screw connection, suitable for braided conductors up to 6 mm2 and solid conductors up to 10 mm2, is based on the spring cage principle. The basic housing, which can be wave-soldered, is offered in horizontal and vertical versions. A screw flange is available to secure the connection between the male connector and the basic housing.
