Slim DIN rail power supplies

1 October 2008 Power Electronics / Power Management

Mean Well recently launched the first model of its new slim DIN rail product series in the form of the SDR-240. Featuring 93,5% efficiency, it can provide 240 W continuously or 360 W for a 3 second interval at up to

60°C by using only free air convection.

With built-in active PFC functionality, the SDR-240 is a full input range switcher that fulfils the requirement of EN61000-3-2 for harmonic current. The slim design of 63,5 mm in width helps save space on the rail and also makes it 42,8% smaller in size compared to its predecessor.

Standard functions include DC OK relay contact, on panel LED indicator, and protection for short-circuit, overload, over-voltage, and over-temperature. To fulfil the requirements of marine and semiconductor related usage, the SDR-240 also complies with GL and SEMI F47 norms in addition to UL, CUL, TUV, and CE certifications. Suitable applications are factory automation, semiconductor fabrication equipment, marine related installation, and electromechanical applications with medium power demand.
