Atmel has released its latest family of 32 MIPS, picoPower 8- and 16-bit microcontrollers that improves MCU performance by off-loading interrupts and data transfers to an on-chip event manager and DMA. The AVR XMEGA MCUs feature high-speed and accurate sampling of analog data with two 12-bit, 8-channel and 2 MSps ADCs, and an integrated 64x gain stage effectively increases the dynamic range to 18-bits. Power-down current is as low as 100 nA. The MCUs also boast five different sleep modes, DES and AES crypto engines, WDT, USART, TWI, SPI, analog comparators, DACs, various 8/16 bits timers, EEPROM, SRAM, RTC, PLL and six different oscillators including a 1% RC oscillator and a 1 μA 32 kHz ultra-low-power oscillator.
