Sixteenth-brick delivers 3,3 V at 25 A

4 February 2009 Power Electronics / Power Management

Power-One’s new SSQE48T25033 is a DOSA-compliant sixteenth-brick DC-DC converter providing 3,3 V d.c. at 25 A with 100% of full rated power available at 55°C, and 22 A at 70°C, using only 200 LFM airflow.

Tight regulation (±3% combined line, load and temperature), and efficiencies up to 93% make this an ideal DPA or IBA power source for communications, data server/storage and workstation applications.

This rugged product also features the capability to withstand a 100 V input transient for 100 ms, meets EN 60950 basic insulation requirements, and is UL94 V-0 flammability rated. Additional features include a wide-range 36 to 75 V d.c. input, the capability to start up into pre-biased loads and no minimum-load operation.

Protections include hiccup-mode over-current, output over-voltage, input under-voltage lockout, and over-temperature shutdown. Interface and trim capabilities include remote sense, remote ON/OFF (positive or negative logic option) and +10%/-20% output voltage trim ranges with industry-standard trim equations. Approvals include UL/CSA 60950-1, EN 60950-1 and IEC EN 60950-1.

A low profile of 9,5 mm reduces airflow shadowing, facilitating improved cooling for downstream components. The SSQE48T25033 features a DOSA-compliant through-hole-mount pinout and 22,9 x 33 mm footprint.
