Hittite’s HMC734LP5(E) and HMC735LP5(E) are GaAs InGaP heterojunction bipolar transistor (HBT) MMIC VCOs.
Both devices integrate resonators, negative resistance devices, varactor diodes and feature a divide-by-4 frequency output. Phase noise performance is excellent over temperature, shock and process due to the oscillators’ monolithic structure. The prescaler function can be disabled to conserve current if not required. The VCOs are packaged in a leadless QFN 5 x 5 mm surface mount package, and require no external matching components.
The 734 features power output of +18 dBm from a +5 V supply and is an 8,6–10,2 GHz device. The 735 has power output of +17 dBm from a +5 V supply and is designed for output frequencies in the range of 10,5–12,2 GHz.
The VCOs are suitable for applications such as point-to-multipoint radios, test equipment and industrial controls, Satcom and military use.
