Compact low-light CCD imaging system

e2v technologies’ L3C216 Series compact low-light CCD imaging system provides the features of the existing L3Vision range in a smaller package and requires less power. The 2/3” format sensor allows use with smaller optical components, reducing system payload. Since the sensor is back-thinned, performance is similar to that obtained with e2v’s existing 1” format sensors. An improved CCD manufacturing process reduces horizontal smear.

The package is designed so that the imaging section may be separated from the drive electronics by 150 mm, simplifying installation in tightly packed environments.

The L3C216 series offers an enhanced blue response, analog and digital outputs and automatic image enhancement. With 768 pixels/line it provides an onscreen display for manual control/monitoring and fanless cooling. Signal to noise ratio is 35 dB and the imaging area is 9,06 x 6,62 mm.

Typical applications include air and ground surveillance, underwater imaging, driver view enhancement, commander’s night-sight and scientific imaging.
