Wire wound tubular resistors

4 March 2009 Passive Components

The recently introduced range of high-power tubular resistors from Tyco Electronics features a corrugated ribbon element on a ceramic core with a Mullite coating for a rapid cooling effect, enabling very good power handling capability from 50 W up to 2500 W.

The new TE series resistors are designed for applications requiring stability, reliability and high performance. Examples for target applications are braking, inrush limiting, as well as pre-charge or discharge of capacitors. The devices are also ideal for heavy duty electrical and production machinery, motor control (motor start/stop cycles) and load test simulation.

TE series resistors feature resistance values from 1 Ω up to 10 kΩ with a resistance tolerance of 5% (all devices from 50 W up to 2500 W) and also resistance values from 0,1 up to 0,99 Ω with a resistance tolerance of 10% (50 W, 60 W and 80 W components only). The components can provide overload of three times rated wattage for five seconds and are designed for an operating temperature range from -25°C up to +225°C.

Customer specific designs such as modular assemblies, custom terminations and enclosures are available upon request.
