Texas Instruments has released the new ADS795x family of low-power, precision SAR analog-to-digital converters (ADC) in a small form factor.
These devices provide excellent linearity and AC performance for high-density applications and are optimised to deliver maximum performance in battery and low-voltage applications, such as handheld medical instruments, programmable logic controllers and digital power supplies. The ADS795x family includes a high degree of integration such as GPIO, programmable alarm thresholds, onboard sequencer and an SPI compatible interface to minimise board space requirements and simplify connectivity and software on the host device.
The devices feature flexible multiplexed inputs in the form of the 4-channel ADS7950, 8-channel ADS7951, 12-channel ADS7952 and 16-channel ADS7953. They all offer 12-bit performance with a sampling rate of 1 MSps, accuracy of ±1 LSB INL and ±1 LSB DNL, and 70 db signal-to-noise ratio. They operate from a digital supply of 1,8 V to 5,25 V and an analog supply of 2,7 V to 5,25 V. Programmable thresholds and alarm are provided per channel, along with GPIO and a hardware interrupt function.
