The RuffSystem 800 from Adlink is the new RuffSystem embedded computer based on the rugged LittleBoard 800 EBX single board computer (SBC). Being based on a design built specifically for ruggedness, the system is targeted at OEMs in military, transportation, avionics and factory automation markets.
RuffSystem provides conductive cooling for the 1,4 GHz Intel Pentium M 738 processor to the NEMA 4x chassis. The 20 x 25 x 7,5 cm enclosure is designed to meet MIL-STD-810 shock and vibration over wide temperature and humidity environments. Optional IP 66/67 mil-grade connectors are offered. The power supply is a 12-25 V d.c. input or 14-32 V d.c. power input to accommodate a wide range of applications.
The computer uses the new rugged EE25 series drives from Seagate. The system is expandable, with a PC/104-Plus interface for up to two I/O cards, and a DIMM socket for up to 1 GByte of DDR 333 memory. Built-in I/O includes Gigabit Ethernet, 10/100 Ethernet, USB 2.0, serial ports, video and audio.
The manufacturer subjects its rugged SBCs like the LittleBoard 800 to voltage and temperature margin testing and HALT testing during development in order to fine-tune the design for harsh environments, including shock, vibration, humidity and -40°C to +85°C operation.
