New lenses for PCB-mount switches

22 July 2009 Switches, Relays & Keypads

A range of new options has been introduced by EAO for its Series 71 PCB-mount switches.

Coloured lenses with a choice of illuminated symbols including the popular on/off design plus ‘ring’ and ‘centre spot’ illumination are now offered as standard. These lenses are a way to enhance the aesthetic design of a control panel and improve the industrial ergonomics of the operating environment, whether it is for a luxury yacht, a medical instrument, a piece of audio/video equipment or a public lift. There is also an aluminium dome lens in a variety of colours for flush-mounting actuators, as well as the traditional full-face square or round illuminated lens.

The switches’ modular design enables actuators, lenses and mounting styles to be combined in different ways to create many different switches suitable for displaying functions. The design requires few parts, which simplifies the assembly process. Plus, they benefit from a behind-panel depth of just 44 mm, which makes them a good solution for space-restricted control panels. They are quick and easy to mount or dismantle from the PCB due to a unique twist-release locking mechanism.

Series 71 switches are protected to IP65 from the front for use in general industrial environments, and they are CE approved. They are suitable for voltages ranging from 5 V a.c./10 mA to 250 V a.c./3 A.
