The VTC is a protection varistor module for mounting on printed circuit boards as independent protection units. The transparent casing provides visual checking of reliable operation. Should the contact spring be disconnected an indication is given that the thermal fuse has disconnected the varistor from the network. All varistors with thermal disconnect are tested according to IEC Standard 61643-1. Applications include TV, radio, kWh meters, VCR and PC.
Technical data for type VTC275 is: discharge current (Imax) 8/20 µs is 10 kA; nominal discharge current (In) 8/20 µs is 5 kA; rated load current, 16 A; voltage protection level is 1,2 kV; response time less than 25 ns.
