SMT fuse eliminates need for power resistors and PTCs

Teccor Electronics has introduced the TeleLink surface mount fuse specifically for use with telecommunications equipment. Designed to be used in conjunction with the SIDACtor transient voltage suppressor (TVS), the surface mount TeleLink fuse provides complete regulatory compliance for GR 1089, FCC Part 68, UL 1459 and UL 1950 and ITU K.20 & K.21 standards.
"With the TeleLink series we have developed a fuse which eliminates series line resistance - allowing longer loop lengths, with precise longitudinal balance - providing better transmission quality and greater surge performance all within surface mount packaging," says Teccor Product Manager Phillip Havens. "This is not a product that was produced then adapted for use in the telecommunications industry. It was designed with telecommunications in mind."
Surge current ratings for the TeleLink include 100 A at 10 x 1000 µs and 500 A at 2 x 10 µs and it is designed to carry 100% of rated current for up to four hours and 250% of rated current for one second minimum and 120 s maximum.
