Vishay has expanded its Little Star family of SMD power LEDs with a new automotive qualified, 1 W natural white device that combines high brightness with a compact package outline. Utilising InGaN technology, the VLMW711T3U2US offers a low thermal resistance of 10 K/W and high luminous intensity for a wide range of applications.
Featuring an SMD power package with a compact 6 x 6 mm footprint and low profile of 1,5 mm, the new LED is designed for a current drive of up to 350 mA, and offers luminous intensity of 25 000 mcd. The device features an optical efficiency of 60 lm/W and a typical luminous flux of 80 to 85 lumens.
The new LED is optimised for general lighting, consumer and general applications with a high luminous flux requirement, and as an alternative to incandescent lamps. Typical end products include street lighting, architectural lighting, indoor and outdoor lamps, and general illumination; automotive applications such as daytime running lights, interior lighting, fog lights, and rear mirror lighting; and household appliances and portable electronic devices.
The VLMW711T3U2US features a 60° half-intensity angle and 120° viewing angle, and is compatible with IR-reflow solder processes. It is automotive qualified to AEC-Q101 and complies with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC. Preconditioned according to JEDEC moisture sensitivity Level 2a standards, the Little Star package is lead-free and RoHS-compliant. The device withstands ESD up to 2 kV in accordance with JESD22-A114-B.
