3,6/8 GHZ spectrum analyser targets 3G

Rohde & Schwarz has launched an RF spectrum analyser family which it claims will have the noise/signal performance and automated measurement capabilities suitable for the development of 3G mobile basestations. The family offers two instruments, the FSU3 with a frequency range of 20 Hz to 3,6 GHz and the FSU8 which extends this up to 8 GHz. The company claims the analyser's wide dynamic range, measurement accuracy and measurement speed will make it particularly suitable for development of 3G basestations and systems.

The instrument, which supersedes the firm's six-year-old FSE analysers, is based on a new hardware and software platform, running under Windows NT, which will be used for further higher frequency analysers.
