FS-LCD driver

30 September 2009 Opto-Electronics

Nuvoton Technology has added the new N535FS0240 to its ViewTalk family, an LCD driver designed for use with FS (filed sequential) LCD panels. FS-LCD uses the same panel process as black and white TN in that the panel works with an RGB LED switching effect to produce a colourful display.

The driver contains 120 segment and two common driver circuits, and can be interfaced with a microprocessor via its serial interface. The resolution of the LCD display can be further extended by switching the master/slave mode between multiple chips. The IC lowers power consumption since it requires no external operating clock for the RAM read/write operations. Each chip features an integrated low-power LCD driver power supply, LED driver circuit, voltage booster for LED and LCD, oscillator circuit and display RAM. Target applications include toys, game devices, ELA, home appliance, instruments and weather forecast stations.
