Power supplies with programmable output voltage

30 September 2009 Power Electronics / Power Management

Mean Well has launched two series of 150 W and 300 W single-output enclosed type power supplies with programmable output voltage function. Using a 1–5,5 V d.c. external control signal, the output voltage of the SPV-150 and SPV-300 series can be trimmed from 20% to 110% of the rated value.

The power supplies employ a high-frequency design and exhibit efficiency up to 83% (SPV-150) and 86,5% (SPV-300). The SPV-150 series can be cooled by free air convection alone up to 40°C under full load conditions, while the SPV-300 series is cooled by a built-in DC fan with fan ON/OFF control, and can be operated up to 50°C ambient temperature. With full range input from 88 to 264 V a.c., these power units boast a built-in active PFC function and comply with harmonic current requirements per EN61000-3-2.

The units include protection for short circuit, over-voltage, overload and over-temperature. They are also certified per UL, CUL, TUV, CB and CE.
