Hamamatsu Photonics has introduced the new A10766 high-sensitivity compact spectrometer, incorporating a polychromator and multi-anode photomultiplier tube (PMT) or PMT module, such as the H7260 series. The A10766 offers high-speed, multiwavelength detection even at photon counting light levels.
The spectrometer is offered with four grating types, with groove densities of 1200 gr/mm, 900 gr/mm, 600 gr/mm and 300 gr/mm and is compatible with Hamamatsu’s 16- or 32-channel PMTs. These choices dictate the spectral range, spectral width, blaze wavelength and resolution specifications and allow the user to tailor the spectrometer to their application. The spectral response ranges from 200 nm to 900 nm with a very high signal to noise ratio across this range compared to conventional CCD array spectrometers. A resolution of 6,3 nm/channel is achievable when a 32-channel PMT and 1200 gr/mm grating are used.
The A10766 has a small footprint for flexible integration into end user systems. The light input optics can be custom designed by the end user or an optional fibre bundle can be attached. Use of a data logger with the PMT allows simple operation and analysis of spectra. By using a PMT rather than a silicon image sensor, the A10766 is able to measure very low light intensities that are rapidly changing.
