Available in 188 kSps, 8-bit (MAX11600-05) and 94,4 kSps, 10-/12-bit (MAX11606-17) configurations, Maxim’s new MAX11600-MAX11617 family of ADCs provides designers with flexibility in selecting resolution, channel count (4/8/12), supply voltage (2,7 V to 3,6 V/4,5 V to 5,5 V) and reference voltage (2,048 V/4,096 V).
All devices in this family are software configurable to support either unipolar or bipolar inputs, as well as single-ended or differential operation. Pin compatibility between many of the devices allows designers to change resolution and channel count without redesigning their board or control software. The ADCs are suitable for automotive designs, portable/battery-powered electronics, solar-powered systems and system-monitoring applications.
The new family provides impressive low-power operation, consuming as little as 350 μA at 188 kSps or 8 μA at data rates of 10 kSps or less. AutoShutdown technology powers down the ADCs between conversions, reducing supply current to less than 1 μA at low throughput rates. The MAX11602-05, MAX11608-11, MAX11614-17 are packaged in a pin-compatible 16-pin QSOP, the MAX11606/07/ 12/13 in an 8-pin µMAX, and the MAX11600/01 in an 8-pin SOT23. All parts are fully specified for operation over the -40°C to +85°C temperature range.
