In-vehicle box computer

3 March 2010 Computer/Embedded Technology

The eBOX310-830-FL is Axiomtek’s new compact box computer for in-vehicle use.

To ensure its implementation for in-vehicle applications, the fanless eBOX310-830-FL is certified with the E-Mark certification (E-13) and the ISO-7637 power standard, which guarantees that it is compatible with other vehicle components and meets tier-1 car makers’ requirements. In addition, the design of the power module incorporates a microprocessor for power control.

The unit is powered by an Intel Core2 Duo processor with the Intel 945GME and ICH7M chipsets. One 200-pin DIMM socket supports up to 2 GB DDR2 400/533 DRAM for high memory bandwidth. Able to withstand vibrations up to 2 Grms and with excellent thermal resistance, this computer is suitable for use in any car, truck or bus, as well as maritime applications.

The eBOX310-830-FL supports 9 to 36 V wide-range DC power input and its power protection feature prevents electrical transients, guarding against damage from the vehicle’s power system. The intelligent power ignition switch function turns on the computer automatically when the vehicle starts and also shuts down when the vehicle is turned off, and its power on/off timing can be modified. Moreover, it has a built-in watchdog timer to reset the system after a crash or system error.

Measuring 224 x 250 x 65 mm in size, the compact unit features rich I/O connections, including one 2,5” SATA drive bay, one CompactFlash Type-II socket, three COM ports, two USB 2.0, two Gigabit LANs, three SMA type connector openings, DVI-I, Power module console port and audio. It also delivers high-bandwidth expansion capability with two MiniPCI Express for custom system configurations such as GPS, GSM/GPRS, WiFi, WiMAX, Bluetooth, HSDPA and more. The eBOX310-830-FL supports various embedded operating systems including Windows CE, Windows XP Embedded and Linux. It can be DIN rail-mounted, wall-mounted or stand-mounted.
