Designed for USB3.0, eSATA, DisplayPort and other high-speed applications, California Micro Devices’ new PicoGuard CM1227 is a low-capacitance electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection device consisting of four channels of ESD protection.
High-speed interfaces use low-voltage signals with very fast rise and fall times and are susceptible to signal integrity degradation issues when capacitive devices such as ESD protection diodes are attached to the interface’s signal lines. The CM1227, with its low input channel capacitance of 0,35 pF, allows design engineers to utilise ESD protection on these signals with minimal channel capacitance effects from the protection device.
The CM1227 is based on CMD’s PicoGuard line of ESD protection products, providing low levels of capacitance, dynamic resistance, clamping voltage and insertion loss. It utilises a space efficient microUDFN package and provides 15 kV contact discharge ESD protection per IEC61000-4-2 Level 4.
