Serial RapidIO Gen2 modelling tool

28 April 2010 Design Automation

IDT has made available its new Serial RapidIO Gen2 system modelling tool. Using this new tool, designers and architects in various markets, including wireless infrastructure, military, imaging, video and storage, can now virtually create a new Serial RapidIO Gen1- or Gen2-based system. Designers and system architects can design their entire system and avoid potential bottlenecks within the design by leveraging Serial RapidIO’s ability to support any topology. This allows designers to perfect the system virtually, before creating a physical prototype.

The tool supports the IDT Gen1 switches as well as the forthcoming IDT Gen2 switches, allowing current RapidIO customers to investigate how their existing designs can evolve with the new Serial RapidIO Gen2 switches. The system modelling tool also features an update of the IDT graphical user interface (GUI), which allows users to visualise traffic patterns in their system. The GUI allows faster and more accurate architectural decision making, helping improve the design of the system and speeding the debugging process.
