California Micro Devices has added two new members to its LuxGuard family of high brightness LED (HB LED) ESD protection devices. The CM1753 and CM1754 are ideally suited for providing ESD protection on high-power HB LED applications, providing up to ±8 kV contact discharge protection, per the MIL-STD-883 standard. These devices feature almost zero conduction at signal amplitudes of 45 V, and are packaged as silicon-based side-mounts suitable for applications including existing HBLED lamp modules.
The CM1753 is designed for P-up common cathode configurations while the CM1754 provides identical protection for N-up common anode configurations. Due to their tiny package size, these devices can be attached via a single wirebond, which permits their use in high-density applications with strings of one to 15 LEDs.
