Magnetic and thermal circuit breakers

Tyco Electronics offers an extensive range of P&B circuit breakers which includes thermal and magnetic types. Termed secondary breakers by UL, they protect equipment rather than branch circuits in buildings. One- to four-pole models are available in current ratings from milliamps through to 50 amps.

All series in this product line meet the requirements of UL 1077, and recent enhancements allow several models to also meet ignition protection requirements according to UL 1500.

Due to their relatively low cost, thermal breakers are applied more broadly than magnetic breakers. Their applications include line conditioning, HVAC (transformer), appliances, uninterruptible power supplies, test and measurement, and medical equipment. Applications that might require the precision of a magnetic breaker include medical/dental diagnostic equipment, automation robotics, welders and elevators.
