Mean Well has complemented its HRP(G) series of enclosed AC/DC power supplies with the new 200 W HRP(G)-200. The unit features a built-in active PFC function to fulfil the requirement of EN61000-3-2 for harmonic current, and reduces the size by 24,8% and extends the warranty from three years to five years compared to the first generation of enclosed type 200 W PFC product – the SP-200 series.
HRP-200 (basic models) and HRPG-200 (complete function models) are designed to fit 1U low-profile (38 mm) installations. Possessing up to 89% efficiency, it can be cooled by free air convection from -30°C to +40°C ambient temperature under full load, and up to +70°C by suitable derating. In addition, HRP(G)-200 series boast 300 V a.c. input surge immunity for 5 seconds, which can reduce the damage caused by unstable AC mains. To compensate for wiring voltage drops, a remote sense function is incorporated to allow for up to 0,5 V drop. Protection functions include short circuit, overload (constant current mode), over-voltage and over-temperature.
Additionally, the HRPG-200 series is equipped with remote ON/OFF control and 5 V/0,3 A standby output to achieve no-load power consumption less than 0,5 W. These features are designed to comply with the requirement of ENERGY STAR and ErP (Energy-related Products) norms. Suitable applications of HRP(G)-200 are general electronics, factory automation, LED moving signs, test and measurement equipment, and other usage that requires low no-load power consumption.
