Reflective colour LCD modules

Hitachi has developed a new single polariser reflective colour (SPRC) STN technology which does not require a backlight and therefore consumes only 10% of the power of a conventional transmissive colour STN display. This makes SPRC STN displays particularly suited for portable devices such as handheld computers, communicators and measurement equipment where low power consumption and sunlight readability are required.

Key features are: compact dimensions and low thickness facilitate an extremely compact design; a contrast of 8:1 and a wide viewing angle provide superior readability even with touchscreen overlay; good sunlight readability makes it suitable for outdoor applications; extreme low power consumption prolongs battery life.
