Time switches

18 August 2010 Switches, Relays & Keypads

Legrand supplies a wide range of time switches designed for precise control and energy efficiency in diverse environments including heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration applications. The Rex range of time switches are suited for OEMs, as well as panel builders who can pre-programme the time switch when they install it. At a later stage when the panel or product is connected to power, all the end-user has to do is set the real-time, which is similar to adjusting a digital clock.

MicroRex analog and digital modules are 24 hour and seven-day time switches for DIN rail and wall mounting, with a 100 hour running reserve. These units have the capability for multiple programmes, which ensures time setting flexibility. MicroRex time switches are controlled by either a quartz or synchronous motor and for increased safety and user convenience, there is an automatic/manual and advance/override facility.

The PolarRex analog defrost switch is designed for short periods of controlled defrosting. This unit is equipped with a daily disc and continuously adjustable short time programmes, which can be repeated up to eight times in 24 hours. These units have changeover contacts for compressors or heaters, with the ability to terminate the cycle by thermostat.

Programming of the switches is simply directed by step-by-step key pressing, rather than the traditional menu-led, PC-based instructions. A clear layout of the segmented block display gives all important information and makes time, day and programme easy and quick to read. Other features include automatic summer and winter settings, an EEPROM memory which prevents settings being lost, and the facility to program the clock prior to despatch. Once the unit has been programmed, the information is persistent even if the switch is not connected to power.
