Power supply and UPS units

29 September 2010 Power Electronics / Power Management

Wago has expanded the Epsitron power supply system within the PRO family to include single-phase power supply devices.

12 Ah rechargeable battery modules and a high-performance charging unit have also been added to the system’s uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).

Wago is also offering single-phase power supplies in the PRO Power series. The new power supplies (787-822 and 787-832) provide an adjustable voltage of 24 V d.c. at the output, with an output current of either 5 A or 10 A. The two-stage power boost delivers up to 200% of the nominal output voltage for 4 seconds and up to 150% for an additional 2 seconds. The integrated TopBoost feature also provides a multiple of the nominal current for 25 ms so that cost-effective circuit breakers can be used to protect load circuits. The power supplies have an efficiency factor of up to 92% and a remote controlled standby mode.

The uninterruptible power supplies in the Epsitron UPS family provide extensive protection against power failures and thus system failures. They consist of a charger and controller, as well as one or more rechargeable battery modules. The latter are available in three capacities: in addition to 3,2 Ah and 7 Ah, they are now available in 12 Ah (787-873). Together with the charger and controller up to 10 A and recently up to 20 A (787-875), Epsitron UPS units reliably provide the required power for several hours. The charger and controller guarantee a temperature-controlled charging process, thus extending the life of the rechargeable battery, which in turn minimises the maintenance required. The UPS modules support complete current and voltage monitoring and feature numerous signalling options via display and RS232 interface.
