First 'true 0,9 V' MCU

Texas Instruments has announced what it is hailing as the industry’s first true 0,9 V microcontroller. Because the MSP430L092 inherently operates at 0,9 V – including the entire analog and digital logic – it does not require an onboard boost converter. This allows developers to run applications off of a single-cell battery, ranging from AAA to coin cell. Low power consumption of 45 μA (active) and wake-up time of less than 5 μs enable optimised battery usage. The MCU also offers programmable analog building blocks that can be configured as five different peripherals. In addition to free software, comprehensive application notes, code libraries and community support, new tool kits are available to help developers fully leverage the benefits of this device.
